Your pup has just ingested a large quantity of truth potion. Any questions asked of them they have to answer truthfully, whether they want to or not! There's absolutely no way around it.

Tag in your pup's name, and others will ask them questions. Nothing is off the table!

Monster movie at the dive-in!

On this, the 30th anniversary of the smash hit, franchise-making film known as Squid!– or was it the 25th?

... Maybe it was the 40th?

Like so many things in Darrow, no one could agree. On some date in the distant, or perhaps recent, past, a little film called Squid! opened in local theaters, and nothing would ever be the same. While no one could prove it to be a global phenomenon, it certainly became the obsession of Darrowians, young and old. There were sequels. There were spin-offs. There was merch. There were Saturday morning cartoons and breakfast cereals.

And now, there was an anniversary screening of the film that started it all. Not just any screening, but a dive-in to kick off summer at the beach. A giant, 50-ft screen had been mounted in the sand near the docks, where the film was being projected as soon as the sun went down. Leading up to the showing, there were games of beach volleyball, foam wars in the shallows, and a game that locals insisted on calling Bean Tunnel (which bore a striking resemblance to the game with an even sillier name, Cornhole). There were inner tubes in the calm waters, and people floating on boogie boards, and people watching from the decks of small boats, and still more set up in beach chairs in the sand. There were cotton candy stands, and hot dog carts and stalls with various seasonal treats, along with beer and frozen cocktails. There were Squid! hats and a costume contest, and a raffle for themed prizes, including a framed excerpt from the original film print– a true collector's item!

Despite its proximity to a holiday that locals did not seem to know the existence of, there were absolutely no fireworks.

Mostly, there were people celebrating summer, and each other, and a little movie about a great big, murderous cephalopod with a secret heart of gold.

... Wait a minute, was that what this movie was about? Do any of these people actually know?

Alright, everyone, let's try something a little different. Let's play Two Truths and a Lie.

1. Top level your character listing three statements about themselves, two of which are true and one of which is false.

2. Reply to other top levels with guesses as to which is the lie. Explanations of their reasoning are a bonus.

3. Additional bonus option: Have your character add two truths and a lie of their own to the thread to keep the game going after the initial guessing is done.

Cut for length. )

That doesn't stop him from wandering at night after his ward has gone to sleep. He doesn't really go out for parties anymore, doesn't frequent clubs the way he used to, but he gets too restless too easily. As much as he loves sleep, he can't handle being cooped up for long. He strolls away from the Bramford Building and walks without thinking much about where he's going. He has his phone, sound on, if Sophie wakes up and needs him, and she'll be fine for an hour or so without him, especially now. It's late, after all — after midnight, which means he's officially been in Darrow more or less an entire year.

Maybe he deserves a cake for that. All the stores are closed, though. Tomorrow then. He fiddles with his phone as he walks. Undoubtedly several of his friends would still be awake, and he probably shouldn't be so alone in his own head for too long, but which of them would he not be disturbing?

It's only too late that he realizes he's been looking at his phone much longer than he should have. It may be past midnight, but the city's still awake. A car hurtles toward him and he steps out of its path just in time, fumbling his phone as he does so. Sighing, he crouches down to pick it up, checking the screen for cracks.

[ Find Shion anywhere in Darrow, more obviously in his head than usual. He's wandering vaguely beachward, but anywhere is fine, or else find him returning home to Bramford. I'm a bit early, but this is set to late late tonight/early July 1st. Happy one year of this dumbass, Darrow. ♥ Open to any and all until this says otherwise!! ]

We're having to rebuild the search server again (previously, previously). It will take a few days to reindex all the content.

Meanwhile search services should be running, but probably returning no results or incomplete results for most queries.
